We look forward to welcoming bands from far and wide to Forres. Each and every competitor in the European Pipe Band Championships, whether a Piper, Drummer, Pipe Major or Highland Dancer contributes something special to a wonderful day and together they are awesome!

We are delighted to welcome bands from all over the world to Forres. In past years we have been pleased to welcome competitors from Australia, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Oman and the Republic of Ireland, as well as all corners of the UK. We hope to see both old friends and new faces in the 2018 band lineup.

The Championships are run by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA). Entries to the competition are now closed.  The draw for the competition is available here.

Applications for bus passes for bands should also be made using the form on the RSPBA website, and must be submitted, along with payment, by 10 June.

There is a very limited amount of car and camper van parking space available in the competitors’ parking area. In order to manage this limited space we have a car and camper van application process as well as a bus pass process. This parking is designed primarily for individual competitors with no access to a band bus, and bands requesting multiple spaces for cars will be encouraged to park in the public car parks nearby. Applications for parking spaces for competitors’ cars and camper vans must be made using the forms that can be downloaded below. Early application is encouraged and no applications will be accepted after 25 June.

All competitors must wear wristbands to enter Grant Park. These are provided free of charge in the following ways:

  • Pipers and Drummers, and Drum Majors travelling with bands will receive these via their Band administration. One additional Adult pass will be provided free of charge for every ten competitors.
  • Drum Majors competing independently of a band must apply for their wristbands by email to  One Adult wristband will be available free of charge to an accompanying adult for all Junior Drum Majors competing independently of a band.
  • Highland Dancers must register and collect the wristbands that will allow them entry to Grant Park, at Anderson’s School on South Street. One Adult wristband will be available free of charge to an accompanying adult for all Junior Dancers.  There is a separate car park area in the school playground for Highland Dancers.

Parking for competitor coaches will be beside Grant Park, weather conditions permitting. Coaches must display their coach passes at all times, both to be permitted to park and while on the park.

Under the terms of our alcohol licence all those on Grant Park are required to display a wristband and bands will need to ensure that they have coach passes for parking, and the wristbands their members require to enter Grant Park, before coming to Forres on 30 June.
