Piping At Forres, the European Pipe Band Championships was held in Grant Park Forres for a six-year run from 2013. It attracted thousands of pipers and drummers  from far and wide. With pipe band and drum majors competing across a number of grades in four arenas, every year there was a stunning spectacle of colour as well as amazing playing!

The majority of the bands came from Scotland but over the years, the organisers were delighted to welcome bands from all over the world.  Forres hosted bands and often their supporters from as far afield as Australia and Oman as well as bands from other European countries such as Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the Republic of Ireland.

To help the thousands of spectators recognise each band in the final parade, Piping At Forres enlisted the help of local school children to lead the bands into the arena.

In the centre of Grant Park, was the main arena, split into four different competition areas. Drum Majors also compete in the main area while a Highland Dancing competition took place in a dedicated stage area in a different part of the park.

There was also a wide variety of other entertainments to suit all ages and interests. These included a Craft & Retail village and a Food & Drink village, both showcasing the finest crafts and produce Moray and the surrounding area has to offer.

There was also a host of interactive activities including Have-A-Go-Row where people could try their hand at the pipes and drums amongst other things,  exploring the science around solar power in the Interactive Science Tent, or even making a Tattie Scone. Other activities included a funfair, bouncy castle and other inflatables.

The entire event area within Grant Park was licensed allowing adult spectators to enjoy a relaxed drink whilst watching the bands.
